Membership Information

New Membership:

We take applications for membership at any of our regularly scheduled practices.

We highly recommend that you come and visit the dojo and watch a practice session before deciding to join.

Please arrive at the dojo between 7:00 – 7:15 PM so we may answer any questions you might have prior to the start of practice.

To begin you will only need to purchase a shinai (bamboo sword). This will cost $25-$65. New Members should come dressed in comfortable work out clothes. The dojo does not sell any kendo equipment.

After showing improvement and progress, the sensei will let you know when its time to purchase equipment.  This includes kendogi, hakama, and bogu.

General Dojo Information:

Costa Mesa Kendo Dojo was founded in 1975, which makes us one of the oldest continuously run Dojo in Orange County.

We are a non-profit dojo and all the instructors are volunteers who give their time to teach the art of Kendo. We currently have 16 Sensei (ranked 4 Dan and above) and many of them have competed at the national and international levels.

Costa Mesa Kendo Dojo is a member of the All US Kendo Federation and the Southern California Kendo Federation.
